Earlier this year, Starbucks opened a new store in Brownsville, TX, but not just any basic Starbucks store that you are used to seeing. They opened a store that was constructed using 3D printing technology. The concrete was built up layer by layer, just like a traditional 3D printer except on a more massive scale. Starbucks has said that this is their first 3D printed store. So of course I had to design and 3D print and miniature version of a real-life 3D printed store.

The design of the building is pretty simple. The building is a long rectangle, and the outer walls show off the 3D printed layers as it is not a smooth outer surface. There are plenty of other design features around the building like the awnings, exterior walls, fencing on the roof, and the large road sign (including the Lotus Cafe sign). I tried to capture as many details as possible to bring the model to life.

For the main building body, I tried printing at a larger layer height to get a similar look as the real building. It's funny that we're always trying to get the smoothest looking model with small layer lines, but for this model the larger layer lines look more accurate.
The small grass section was separated from Base - 1 (the base with the accessible parking spot) since that base uses 4 filaments (gray, yellow, white, blue). I currently only print with 4 colors so the green grass had to be printed separately.
I used hot glue for the logo signs and super glue for the doors, windows, and wall panels.

I am super happy with how this model came out, and it easily became one of my top 3 favorite models. I would love to check out the real store in person one day. If you live in that area and have been to the store, let me know what you think! I'll link an article on the store opening below. As always, feel free to reach out with any questions. More models are in the works for 2026! Follow along on my Patreon for more updates and sneak peaks at what is coming soon. Enjoy!
