A foldable line separator. Handy for packing certain types of parachutes.
Keeps the suspension lines organized while separating the left and right line groups.
It's small: approx 53mm/2 inch wide. I'll try to add a larger version shortly.
Printing
I printed in PETG. Place the 'fork' and the base flat on the printbed before slicing. For the base, add some supports in the hole for the bolt heads if needed.
The 'buck' aids in printing the strap.
The strap is printed in TPU or similar flexible filament. As an alternative, a small elastic band or bungee will work.
The procedure to print the strap is a bit tricky. When preparing the print file: add a pause at ~9mm height, just before printing the last few layers of TPU.
When the print pauses, place the 'buck' over the strap on the print bed and resume printing (See the last few photos).
The buck acts as a support surface for the last layers of TPU.
Be careful that the print head doesn't collide with the buck! Sand it to correct height if necessary.
Assembly
Clean out the supports from the base and use 3mm drill bit to clean up the holes in the base.
Leave the holes in the fork untouched, as the bolts screw into the plastic.
The line separator is put together with 2 hex socket bolts. I used M3x18 but other lengths work too.
The two ovals on both end of the strap are to aid adhesion of the TPU to the print bed. Cut the strap free and push the smaller end in the fork's notch.
Blue skies!
