CHESSE – Rubber Band Strategy Game
Objective
The objective of the game is to claim fields on the board using rubber bands and mark them with Y symbols.
Depending on the selected variant, the goal may be:
to occupy all available fields, or
to create specific patterns (rows, diagonals, or shapes).
Game Components
1 hexagonal game board with holes and clover-shaped anchors
Rubber bands
Y markers (Y) or tokens
Setup
Place the board on a flat surface.
All fields start empty.
Each player receives an equal number of rubber bands and Y markers.
Gameplay
Players take turns in clockwise order.
1. Placing a Rubber Band
On your turn, stretch one rubber band between the anchors (holes or clover-shaped points).
The rubber band must clearly define or cover one empty field on the board.
Rubber bands may not cross or occupy fields that are already marked.
2. Claiming a Field
Once a field is correctly covered by a rubber band, the player may place a Y marker on that field.
After placing the Y:
The rubber band may be removed, or
It may remain in place, depending on the chosen game variant.
Restrictions
A field may only be claimed once.
Rubber bands may not be placed over already occupied fields.
Only one rubber band may be placed per turn.
End of the Game
The game ends when:
All fields are occupied, or
No further legal moves are possible.
Winning the Game
The winner is:
The player who has claimed the most fields, or
The first player to complete a required pattern (if using a pattern-based variant).
Optional Variants
Solo Puzzle Mode: Try to fill the entire board using the minimum number of rubber bands.
Speed Mode: Players have a time limit per turn.
Pattern Mode: Only specific geometric patterns count as valid wins.
