This webcam stand is designed to be stored in a compact way and to be quickly deployed for use.  It extends up to 30 cm when fully extended and locks quickly by holding the outermost ring and the innermost ring and twisting them.  The concentric telescoping mechanism prints in place.

Instructions

Print the test pieces to try out the tolerance in your machine if you have doubts.

Print all the individual pieces in the "Webcam stand pieces" folder, or use the project 3mf file included there that has all the pieces with recommended print settings. Then:

  1. Screw the lid unto the webcam using the screw printed here.

  2. Screw that assembly unto the body.

  3. Use with just this, or add the weighted base for added stability.

To prepare the weighted base, you can fill the space in the weighted base file with whatever heavy object you'd like. My recommendation is to use pebbles and Plaster from Paris or drywall mud and wait until it dries. Then press-fit the weighted base lid on it.

The telescoping body is just press-fit into the weighted base and is firm-enough for use like that.

Recommended print settings

  • 0.20 mm layer height

  • 0.4 mm nozzle

  • PLA or PETG work fine

  • No supports needed

  • Add extra perimeters to the body file so no infill is generated.

  • For the screw, add a modifier so the center has 100% infill. This helps with strength.

  • Add a small brim to the body to help with bed adhesion.
