This bat system should work with any wheel where bat pins are spaced 10" apart! Will print with most standard FDM print beds (250 mm x 250 mm / 10" x 10").

Use Notes:

  • Assemble by sliding component A and B onto the dovetail on component C.

  • Secure to the wheel by placing the bat system on the wheel first then placing the pins through the holes.
Note: If not fully secured, it will move as you start centering / coning / opening.

  • Snap inserts into place.

  • May be handy to have a flat head screw driver if the bat feels difficult to take out. Back of a wooden knife might work as well. Repeated use of the bat system makes it easier to pop inserts off.

(!) Print Notes:

  • Recommend to use ASA, ABS, PETG, or other filaments that withstand use with water.
While tests were done with PLA, it's not the best material for long term use.

  • Print at 0.15mm layer height with supports.
Layer heights adaptive and 0.2 works but the tolerances are fairly tight and a few iterations failed to mate. Slower prints with lower layer heights always had success. The 0.15mm layer height is also important for water proofing the inner cavity.

  • Recommended minimum use 4-6 wall perimeters, 25% infill, and 5 top/bottom layer heights.
Primarily a trade off between material use (cost) and longevity of the part.

  • Have not yet printed the insert with the concentric circle dashes, but hopefully there are no issues.

PS: Hexagons are the bestagons!
