This model was made out of necessity, because we didn't have a good place to put the "fat pudding" we received as a gift.

We have a lot of big magpies around, we don't want them to eat the whole thing in a few gulps, the smaller birds should get most of it, so I designed a roof with lots of poles (6mm rods). You can choose how many support sticks you want, I guess 6 would be plenty strong, but it would let the magpies through, so default is 18 sticks.

Getting the support sticks in the roof was tight, but I found that after mounting a stick in a drill and then sanding and "drilling" it into the roofholes was quick and they went in without much effort.

The polemount is based on a central wooden stick (I had some 22mm rod, but you can use any size you want and adjust the fitting. This was also very tight, I guess PETG shrinks a bit after printing... The outer bit of the pole is a PVC pipe (mine was about 80mm outside diameter), again, adjust the size in the openscad file to what you have. I used about a meter high pole. The pole is fixes by drilling a 6mm hole in the ends through the hole in the mount, and using another bit of 6mm rod to fix it in place (could be a metal screw or a piece of 6mm wooden rod).

The "table" and the foot of the thing are made from 28mm planks I had, I weighed them down with some bricks.

Order of mounting is probably best bottom up and not mounting the food until just before fitting the roof with sticks inserted into the plank with food (drill the holes using the cutout piece for guidence.

After the first build/print, I thought a straight roof might be easier to print (without supports) and I also added some footholds to the roof to make it easier to enter through the roof, not sure if birds would use it though.

The number of rods (18) is probably too many, the openings are very small and though I think small birds could fit through the openings, it's probably better to make it more accessible. I don't see the magpies going for it. I've removed half of the rods, I hope that will make it more usable.
