This is a remix of garylavart's "COOLING TOWER 1:87 HO SCALE" on Thingiverse with some additions and modifications. I scaled it down to N Scale 1:160. Scale it up by 183.908% to return to HO.

I printed this on my Q2 with MMU:

  • Silver parts were printed in Qidi PLA Rapido Silver

  • Yellow parts were printed in Qidi PLA Rapido Yellow

  • Black parts were printed in Qidi PLA Rapido Matte Ash Gray

  • Motor was printed in a bronze silk PLA

Print Settings:

  • 0.2mm nozzle

  • Initial and Layer Thicknesses 0.1mm

  • 0.22mm line width

  • 4 wall loops

  • 100-150mm/s

Assembly:

I used thin 3-5s set time model glue

Cooling Tower Fan Cell

  • Insert motor support mid-way into the fan surround

  • Insert gray cell internal piece from the bottom and push the fan surround down on a table to nest it in, which also pushes the motor support into perfect position

  • Glue

  • Glue the fan blades to the underside of the motor support

  • Glue the motor to the underside of the fan blades

Cooling Tower Frame

  • Glue the fan cell over the top exhaust hole

  • Glue one intake to each of 3 sides

Cooling Tower Stairs

  • Glue two stair halves together x2

Cooling Tower Stair Supports

  • Glue one platform support and one angle support to the non-intake side of the tower

  • Glue on end supports and additional platform and angle supports for the top stairs

  • Glue one more end support and angle support for the bottom stairs

  • Attach each set of stairs and the landings

Cooling Tower Railings

  • You may need to cut down some of the railings to length to make everything fit properly depending on how tolerances go.

Enjoy!!!
