25/1/26:

Added a new back plate that has holes to suit the 8 pin and 6 pin amphenol connectors.

5/1/26:

This holds the compact owl, just like the pre-existing enclosure - Download and use Tray.stl from it.

I've called this the Subcompcat OWL enclosure since its submarine like - makes a good bath toy.

I wanted to reduce part count (while i was waiting for parts), and make assembly faster. I haven't installed this myself (yet) so i may change the way it mounts in the future.

Print the blank back plate and test for water tightness in a bucket of water before putting any electronics inside.

Choose a main body and backplate to suit.

Required

  • Metric o-ring R-25 34.5x3.55

  • plumbers tape - wrap each thread (and the backplate) about 5 times

  • 37mm K&F uv filter (same as other enclosure)

print settings:

  • Modern 3D printer with high accuracy

  • Arachne wall generator

  • 0.3mm layer height (works better for the threads)

  • Make sure seam position is nearest - aligned isn't good for the threads

  • might want a brim around the main body if you print out of polycarbonate

  • no supports required

  • 3 walls and top/bottom layers

All threads are made from metric threaded rod in FreeCAD

  • main body female is 95mm, 4mm pitch

  • screw on lid male is 94mm, 4mm pitch

  • inside of screw on lid female is 75mm, 2.5mm pitch

  • oring holder is male 74mm, 2.5mm pitch
