See the pictures for one application. This adapter is designed to connect a 2-1/2 inch (63mm) hose fitting to a 4 inch (100mm) duct connection. The inner dimension is slightly tapered but is 2-1/2 inches (about 63mm) at its widest point. The outer dimension is also tapered and is about 3-13/16 inches (or about 95mm) in diameter at its widest point. It is meant to fit inside a typical 4 inch dust connection fitting.
The adapter should work with any appropriately sized fitting but I specifically designed it to nest together with @PeterH1500's amazingly excellent ball valve blast gate should you be interested in using their model.
