I designed this a couple of years ago for my Creality printers and I had printed out many variations using this design in Triple-Quad and Quad-Quad planetaries. After building my AWD Voron Trident this basic pair of FreeCAD files were too loose and often would be close to falling apart after 30 minutes of playing with it.

It's been more than a year now and I have just discovered the drawings again. After looking into the files I have reduced the clearances and backlash in the pair of drawing and have begun what looks to be a very successful print.

I need to mention that the Printables web system seems to replace capital letters in file suffixes with lower case.  The file suffix in the design file  invol-assem4-plan-9-7-23-complete.fcstd must be altered to  invol-assem4-plan-9-7-23-complete.FCStd for the pair of files to load properly in FreeCAD. At least in my Linux system I compiled from source last night.

****  I've uploaded 3 STLs. Each one a little tighter than the previous.  If you already know what your high-precision printer can do, I'd suggest setting your own clearances and backlash in the 2 design files. To generate your own STL, just load up FreeCAD, open the quad-double-planetary-a4-jan-08-26 file, switch to the Gear Workbench, find all of the InvoluteGear features in the model tree and adjust the backlash and clearance values. Enjoy!

I've had my Voron Trident for 16 months now and I'm still amazed at how accurately it produces my designs. The "tighter" STL in the downloads section is still a bit loose for my liking but runs well none the less. I have a video of it in the photo list.  I'll be uploading another STL ending "tighter2" with the Gear Workbench values for clearance set to 0.100 mm.

I now have slowed the print to 275 mm/sec and have set my accel down to 5000 to keep the noise down to a very low level. 2 walls 15% infill. My printer is in pretty good  form and the prints even with 0.30 layer height are great.

These FreeCAD design files were created using the Gears and Assembly4 workbenches. I'll be adding an equivalent file with this design fully completed in the new FreeCAD integrated Assembly Workbench in the near future. Yay for more FreeCAD!!

Also, if you find value in this, please give it a like. Thanks.
