This design is based on the artwork Symmetry No. 104 (1954) by M.C. Escher. The concept for the project came from Reference 1, and I utilized the vector image provided in Reference 2. I developed the tessellation for the two cubes in Tinkercad. To the best of my knowledge, the tessellation pattern for version 2 is original and has not been found elsewhere. Each cube is made of 6 tiles using 4 different colors, resulting in a final cube edge of 10 cm.
When assembling, start with the corner of the cube. Please note that it is a tight fit, so assembling the first three tiles at the corner can be challenging. Both tile types have small holes on the sides; you can insert pieces of filament into these holes to align the assembly if needed. It takes about 3 hours to print 6 tiles, and no supports are required.
