My PVS-14 has an ancient housing with random, no name glass. Instead of trying to figure out what the hell the threads were, then trying to find a proper step down, I decided to just model the cap and put threads in it. The threads worked fine, dunno if they're correct, but it allowed me to securely thread the iris into the cap. If it doesn't fit perfectly, then just add some tape on the inside. Perfect friction fit for me.
