Simple stand / holder for solder wire spools, designed to accept wide variety of spools from approximately 100 g to 500 g. The solder wire spools rotate very smoothly thanks to ball bearings.

List of additional parts:
  • 1 pcs long M6 bolt or piece of threaded rod (used length written down)

  • 1 or 2 pcs (self locking) M6 nuts

  • 4 pcs washers

  • 2 pcs 626 ball bearings (6 x 19 x 6 mm)

Printing

Print the Spool centers standing on the tip - I have created a version with added tabs for better bed adhesion.

The Wire guide P1 is printed in a vertical position (photo), P2 laying on flat side on the printer bed.

Assembly notes

Tighten the nuts on center rod / bolt only lightly, 626 bearing can only withstand light axial loads.

Optionally assemble the Wire guide, P1 should click in P2. If necessary, gently heat P2 to expand it. Then snap whole assembly on the leg.

The printed examples in pictures are from ABS, centers printed with cooling on. I have been using the stands for about two weeks and they work as expected, there are no unwanted deformations, lighter coils also rotate smoothly and the stand remains in place. The wire guide bends a little, but with 0.8 mm diameter wires, it always returns to its position, no need to readjust it.
