This OpenSCAD v2021.01 script creates a spatula or handle for grabbing your hot build plate off your printer to bring it out of the printer for cooling. Not particularly needed for PLA, but 110C ABS plates can be kinda painful.
Use the filament of your choice, 3 or 4 perimeters, and 0.2 or 0.3mm layers.
There are two reasonable print orientations for creating a strong print: on the face, and on the side.
You'll notice that one side is perfectly flat from handle to head; this is an excellent orientation for building, but means that the slot probably needs to be filled with supports. Cleaning those out might be ugly; maybe a Dremel would be a good tool for doing so. If you want to do this, comment out lines 98/99.
The other reasonable orientation is with the side of the head down. You'll have supports along the handle, but those will be easy to remove. To keep the print attached to the bed around the head without adding a brim (which would fill one end of the slot), there is a fake brim built into the model. Break it off after printing.
Good luck, and hopefully no more finger burns.
