The video shows a box for a different caliber, but the principle of operation is the same

File names are shared across the entire project family. A part with a given name from one project will fit as a part with the same name from another project.

Additionally, a capital letter in parentheses indicates "the box size" a given part fits (e.g., 5.56x45 and 5.45x39 trays can be used interchangeably in the same mechanism).

Bill of materials (printing suggestions)

  • bottom (B) (organic support and brim enabled)

  • top cover (B) (80% infill for extra primer protection)

  • gearbox base (B), one normal, one mirrored (support)

  • cam gear (ABC), two normal, two mirrored

  • idler gear (ABC), 4 pieces

  • gear latch (ABC), 2 pieces

  • 5.45x39 tray bottom (B) (organic support)

  • 5.45x39 tray top (B) (organic support)

  • plug(B), 2 pieces

  • two pieces of 91 mm long filament, diameter 1.75mm

Additional models in the project:

Gear latches with different snap forces. Could be used instead of the gear latch (ABC).

  • gear latch - (ABC) (weaker than standard)

  • gear latch + (ABC) (stronger than standard)

  • gear latch ++ (ABC) (the strongest one)

Alternative flat layout trays (normal and lightweight to save filament and printing time)

  • 5.45x39 tray (B)

  • 5.45x39 tray lightweight (B)

I hope the provided step-by-step instructions are sufficient for assembling the box. Please note that assembly should be carried out without excessive force (except for installing the latch). After assembly, it's a good idea to turn the cam gears until they stop at the end of their travel.
