This model replaces the bottom section of the pet waste scooper sold by Bunnings Warehouse in Australia (link below).
If your original base cracked, snapped, or finally retired after one too many “important deliveries”, this should get you back in action.
I printed this in ABS, using 10% gyroid infill and 5 walls for strength — because the last thing you want is a structural failure during a critical pickup.
The handle uses a spring-loaded detent button (the little pop-out button on the metal tube) to lock into the base.
Removing the metal handle from the original base:
Press the detent button inward (a small screwdriver works well)
While holding it in, pull the metal rod out of the old base
Installing the metal handle into this printed base:
Push the rod into the printed socket with the detent button already aligned with the hole
Keep pushing until you feel/hear the button click/pop outward into the hole
Only if the button doesn’t pop out cleanly: use a screwdriver from underneath to gently help it pop outward into place (so it locks)
Once it pops out, it’s locked in — and you’re back to the glamorous world of responsible dog ownership.
