The original spool holders are a bit difficult to take a lot of spools on and off. I think they did it that way so RFID spools would stay nice and close to the reader, but if you are like me and not using that much Snapmaker filament so far, then they are just a pain.  These print without supports and snap on in place of the originals.  Another improvement is that the holders are also much easier to remove without feeling like you are going to break your side panel.  To remove them, first rotate them a bit past 90 degrees to disengage the latches and they come out fairly easy.  I went through several iterations to get the attachment just right.

The spool holder is offset from the snap portion so that the average spool is still roughly centered on the original spots.

They were designed and tested with PETG in mind.  The snaps work well with PETG and I have not tried it with any other filament. Likely, would be just fine in PLA.

I included step files and the Fusion file so you can adjust to your needs.

Place them with the flat surface on the bed. I suggest having enough wall thickness in the snap area so that prints solid. Also make sure the slicer is not putting seams around the snaps as they will be much more likely to break at a seam.

MODEL UPDATE: 13 FEB 2026

I added files with "_less snap"  these have a less aggressive snap, but still engage well enough for me that they should stay on well. Hopefully these will work better for people who have had issues with the snaps breaking during install. The hooks stick out a bit less so the snap arms don't have to flex as much.  "u1 spool holders less snap.stl" has all the holder options (1-4 and blank) in the print orientation.
