This is a storage solution for big amounts of optical discs like CDs, DVDs and Blu Rays.
One unit can store 100 discs within a footprint of roughly 21cm x 13cm x 13cm.
The carrier is snapped into the disc from the top/image side, allowing the disc to be lifted from the side and acting as a spacer (~0.4mm) to prevent storage scratches on the optical side. Two sided discs work but might get scratched. Individual discs can be removed by removing the spindle and one half of the pipe. The Spindle and the LockBuckle parts toollessly lock everything together.
As a personal side project this might be improved or changed - or might have untested problems I am not aware of.
Have fun :).
Tested print settings
Only the .bgcode files are ready to use solutions. The .3mf files are mostly for convenience and reference - please ensure to following settings apply for the individual parts.
General:
Material: PETG (best without particles)
0.4 Nozzle
0.2 mm height, structural preset
MK4S (Mine is modifed. A less abused printer with a big enough print volume should also work well)
Printbed: smooth PEI
Carrier (important):
5 Perimeters (increases the middle section's strength considerably)
All non carrier parts (less important):
3 Perimeters
Bottom and top layer: Concentric
HalfPipe (important):
Activate Skirt (prevents the print from detaching)
Needed Parts
100x Carrier
1x Spindle
1x LockBuckle
2x SideLid
2x HalfPipe
Versions
HousingV3.1
Simplyfied Halfpipe model
Release Version: HousingV3 & CarrierV5:
Optimized Carrier with satisfying snapping
Functional Case (works well enough but can be improved)
Fully tested (see picture)
Some stacking stand will probably be added in some time
Contains the project files from FreeCAD, stls and the bytecode
The housing could use some filament targeted material reduction and improved Halfpipes
Feel free to remix and improve my solution such that I do not have to do it myself :)
