This is a parametric version of the coin through bolt magic trick. Use FreeCAD to open the file, and you will find a spreadsheet with parameters in it. You will be able to change the screw diameter, coin diameter and coin height, as well as their respective tolerances. This will allow you to change the type of coin and produce your own STL file. I included the 2 euro STL file here.
If you don't change any parameters, you'll need to add your 2€ coin, and an M6 nut & bolt.
Here is a basic performance of the trick :
To print the main box, I recommend :
Print it upright
Fuzzy skin on the four sides all around (1)
Choose random seam positionning (1)
Make sure the design produces three layers of perimeters (2)
Print the outer layer last (2)
PLA is more than enough
Elegant way to hide the seams and decorate the box
Prevents the secret holes in the box to bleed to the outside layer due to material cooling contraction
If you like magic, this should be safe explanatory :) Please use a better presentation than the one shown in the video, which was made only for this page. Also add a little sleight of hand at the end to make everything examinable.
If you find any flaws in the design, comment here and I might try to fix it. Make sure to measure your design before printing if you change the parameters.
