This model is a high-difficulty tactile maze disguised as a perfect desktop replica of the Death Star. Unlike traditional mazes, the internal path is largely hidden from view, requiring the user to navigate the "trench run" by feel alone. The two halves of the station must be rotated and manipulated until the internal pins clear the hidden labyrinth to reveal the secret chamber within.

Features

  • Tactile Challenge: A "blind" maze design that forces you to feel your way through the darkness to reach the core.

  • Storage Capacity: The internal volume measures 68mm in height and 40mm in diameter, perfect for hiding small gifts, crystals, or desktop treasures.

  • Integrated Exterior: When closed, the two halves form a detailed spherical model of the iconic space station. The seam forms the equatorial trench of the space station.

  • Snap-Together Assembly: No glue or screws required; the mechanical components click into place for a secure fit. Glue is optional.

Assembly Instructions

The model prints in four distinct pieces:

  1. The Bottom Half: The main spherical base.

  2. The Maze Core: This snaps into the bottom half.

  3. The Top Half: The upper spherical section.

  4. The Maze Runner: The part containing the three maze runner pointers. This snaps into the top half.

The internal pointers will now interact with the maze core. Movement may be slightly stiff at first until the pointers have worn a little bit.

Printing Recommendations

  • Nozzle: 0.4mm

  • Layer Height: 0.2mm (the maze is designed to print will up to this layer height).

  • Supports: None required. The geometry is optimized to print clean without any support material.

  • Infill: 5-15%

  • Orientation: Print the flat faces of the hemispheres on the bed for maximum stability.
