Electrical Box Extender

Electrical Box Extender, easier attachment, without removing wires.  Made as one STL file, print two of them, one for left, one gets rotated (NOT MIRRORED) for right,  after printing.  DISCLAIMER - electrical items are used at your own discretion, codes to adhere to, etc, etc, etc, fireproof filament, you accept full responsibility.  All that is provided here is some printable file that might interest you

Upcoming kitchen project, and new tile backspash,  and new electrical outlets, and I want them to fit flush.

I searched all the electrical outlet extenders.

Several good designs, and I credit all them with the idea for this.

Too numerous to mention (I probably looked at all the derivatives on the site), no way to mention them all, but they all were precursors to this.

BUT, I did not like how they inserted over the box.  Commercial ones,  and 3d printed ones, as one piece, had to slip over the outside of the outlet, or else remove the wires and insert the spacer.  I wanted to be able to unscrew the outlet, keep wires on, and attach the extender to the back, and re-fasten it.   There were a couple designs that had one side cut out, and the extender wrapped around, but that does not seal the whole perimiter, and actually electrical code, I believe, requires  the opening to be sealed.

SO, I came up with this design, it is ONE PIECE, print two of them, they are the SAME, NOT mirrors, and they fit together.  You can unscrew the outlet, attach the left and right pieces (top and bottom tabs interlock), and then refasten the outlet.

I have uploaded 5 mm, 10 mm, 15 mm, and 20 mm spacers.

You can scale them to a more custom depth, on Z-Axis.  The only issue is that the 2 mm raised  inner  border may get  thicker, but should not affect the fit
