I made a fully extendable spool holder. by using an interlocking design. You can extend as long as you want.
I used 3 walls, 15% infill, 3 bottoms and tops
I used PETG for this but you can use PLA
use 608 bearing, the bearing shaft is force fit design and there is an optional cover which guides the spool to the bearings
you can print as many connecting parts as you like or remix
