This wasp trap remix combines the best parts of two popular designs: a rain-covered multi-entry funnel and a sturdy hanging hook. The result is a simple, effective trap that screws onto a standard 1–2L soda bottle.
The Improved Wasp Trap screws onto a standard PET soda bottle, from 1L–2L sizes (Works with most standard soda bottles with 28mm PCO-1881 threads.). It features a sturdy hanging hook, covered entrances, and multiple openings leading to the funnel. The funnel itself was extended by the original creator to help reduce wasp escape.
Wasp Recipe
Add 1–2 inches of liquid bait to the bottom of the bottle.
Spring / Early Summer (protein phase)
Mix meat scraps, fish, or liverwurst with water.
Late Summer / Fall (sugar phase)

Placement & Maintenance
Hang about 4 feet high, 20–27 feet from seating areas, in partial shade.
Check daily; empty and refill every 3 days to prevent overcrowding and swarming.
Do not crush dead wasps—their scent alerts the colony. Seal them in a plastic bag before disposal.
