Elements connect together via s slide-on dove-tail fitting.

I printed these in ASA so to better withstand the heat. I have no tested other materials (i.e. PETG)

What is attached

Apart from 3mf files ready to be imported into slicer I've also attached the original Blender file, which contains assets which make it possible to modify the design or create rosette in other sizes.

About Blender file

Blender file contains a separate collection for each rosette size + one "elements" section containing raw elements used in construction of the rosette.

Rosette was made by rotating a profile around the origin and then using a stencil o split it into two halves with 0.2mm assembly clearance (done by applying Solidify modifier). The stencil is applied to a ring via boolean modifier.

Creating custom size rosette

To create a new size of a rosette one needs to do the following:

  • using a rotation tool (in Edit Mode) create a new ring from "Rozuetta-profile" found in "elements" collection - changing position of the profile relative to 3D cursor (which is usually placed at world origin) sets the inner radius of the rosette

  • then we need to create a modified stencil - copy one of existing ones and then

  • goto edit mode and adjust the X position of left half of the vertices - bringing them closer or further away from the center (calculate the distance by subtracting the new inner radius from radius of original you started from)

  • do the same thing with set of vertex on the right - this will make sure that the dove tails are in correct position

  • you might want to adjust the ends of dovetails since they might be protruding out of the ring resulting in a hole being created

  • adjust the angle of rotation of the stencil so that it the ring right at the edge (resulting top halve must meat the bottom halve at the edge - see the existing examples)
