I built a ball counter for the 2026 FRC robotics game "Rebuilt". The frame has 4 openings where the balls roll through and are counted. On each side of each opening there is an IR emitter and an IR sensor. I drilled holes through poplar boards and positioned an emitter and sensor back to back using the plugs which I printed in ABS. There is also a guide bracket which you print to help you locate the drill holes. The plug has a key bump at the top to prevent the plug from rotating in the hole.
