While painting the tiniest details, elisas.minis on Instagram (@elisas.minis) ran into the problem of the paint drying on her brush. So she came up with the idea of using tattoo ring ink pots as tiny wet palettes right on her thumb, which works great. The problem is that they’re only available in packs of >100, so why not design one to print yourself? A few prototypes later, the Tactical Thumb Palette (TTP) was born. The only thing missing was a second cup for rinsing the brush. That’s how the double-cup ring came about.
The TTP consists of a ring part and a cup part and can be printed without supports. Simply glue the small cup onto the ring. The cup comes in two versions: with one indentation and with two indentations. The inner diameter is 15 mm and the depth is 5 mm.
I designed two different ring shapes: a closed one and an open one. The sizes range from 15 mm to 24 mm in diameter in 1-mm increments.
I recommend printing the open ring in PETG, but PLA should also work fine. It can also be printed in resin.
