Howdy, wonderful people!

I've always liked ratchet mechanisms, and this container started out as another attempt at a rotational-ratcheting lid design. It changed entirely away from that, but it still retained its ratchet-y ways, just in linear form.

Conceptually, it's not complicated - there are engagement points on the lid that are spring-mounted and will bend out of the way when the lid is pushed into the box, springing back into the matching elements in the box walls. And, since the engagement points are attached to handles, the two handles can be squeezed to release the ratchet entirely.

You'll notice that the interlocking parts are divided into three segments rather than being one continuous piece. This is purely so that the wall features in the box can be bridged easily rather than becoming problematic overhangs. That's the classic problem with parts that need to hook into each other - if the print orientation doesn't allow for the angles you need, more creative solutions must be found :)

Print Description

This print is an assembly of individual parts, so take care that those parts are nice and neat so as to assemble nicely :)

Print Dimensions

The Progressor Box occupies 95mm x 105mm on the print bed and is 65mm tall.

Supports Needed?

Not at all!  Designed for straightforward printing!

Scalability

This should scale reasonably well up or down, though the springiness of the latching mechanism will probably change as a result :)

Print Orientation

Both the lid and the container print right-side up.

Happy printing!

xoxo

Sven.
