Stanford Bunny: Cosmic Voronoi Easter 🪐 👽
Procedural transformation of the iconic Stanford Bunny into a futuristic, multi-layered sculpture using Geometry Nodes in Blender.

Background
Scanned in 1994 by Mark Levoy and Greg Turk at Stanford University, the "Stanford Bunny" was one of the first high-quality seamless 3D scans available to researchers. Since then, it has become a popular geometric structure for testing various spatial algorithms and computational methods.
Working with the "Stanford Bunny" model is an inspiration to me and also a tribute to the computer graphics world :)
Design Concept
The source model has been heavily transformed into a futuristic, multi-layered, and multi-material sculpture. All modifications were made procedurally in Blender using Geometry Nodes.
My modified Bunny consists of three distinct layers:
The Inner Core (Green): A reduced in size and polygons version of the bunny, "glowing with an internal energy".
The Reinforcement Mesh (Black): A thin, structural wireframe "holding the green energetic core".
The Protective Shields (White): Translucent protection plates inspired by eggshells or ceramic thermal insulation tiles.
The main advantage of procedural design is that you can easily change a few parameters and instantly get a new shape:

Fabrication
To 3D print this, I split the Blender model into three separate STL files. I sliced the multi-object model for Prusa MK3S printer with the Prusa Multi-Material Unit (MMU). This allowed me to simultaneously print all three materials ( the glowing core, the black wireframe, and the white shell ) as a single, solid object.
I am pretty happy with the resulting shape, color combination, and tactile feel.
🛠 3D Printing Setup:
Printer: Prusa MK3S + MMU2S
Nozzle diameter: 0.4 mm
Layer height: 0.20 mm
Material: PLA filament (3 colors)
Green core
Perimeters: 3
Infill: Gyroid 15%
Black wireframe
Perimeters: 10
Infill: no infill, just perimeters
White shell
Perimeters: 10
Infill: no infill, just perimeters
Brim: outer brim 10 mm
Supports: auto generated (grid)
Seam position: aligned
Wipe tower: purging volumes range from 140 to 300 depending on color transition
Have a great printing! Feel free to remix and modify my original design in Blender. I would be happy to see your 3D printed results in various colors. Please let me know in the comments if you have any questions.
Thank you! 💚
