Assembly and Print Instructions

This is set up in such a way that you can have different colours for the left and right sides even with a single colour printer.

Backplate

Use backplate_textless.stl if you want custom text, use backplate_dishwasher.stl if you want the DIRTY/CLEAN text specifically. I made the DIRTY/CLEAN text a little lower in the final model compared to what is in my photos. I suggest placing your text lower if you are going to be viewing from above, and higher if you are going to be viewing from below, because of the parallax effect.

For custom text, add the text with a cut modifier in your slicer (or software of your choice). I had success with a depth of .8mm in PrusaSlicer.

My backplate colour changes were in the following locations:

  • Text colour - up to 1.40 mm

  • Right side colour - from 1.60 mm to 2.00 mm

  • Left side colour - above 2.00 mm

I have added a sample with customisable text as BACKPLATE.3mf.

Frontplate

The front plate base model does not have text by default. Use the slicer to add the text on the side without the pins sticking up. Print text side down, with a colour change to your intended text colour a few layers in.

I have added a sample which can be customised with text to your liking as FRONTPLATE.3mf

Toggle

Nothing special needed for this. Just print in whatever colour you like (I suggest the same colour as the front plate).

Assembly

Stick the two sides together with the slider in the middle, using the pins for alignment. I used double sided tape.
