High-friction engineering filaments on cardboard spools kept binding in the dryer while printing and failing prints when the extruder couldn't pull hard enough.

This is a quick fix, implementing 2x 608 bearings to smooth out the feed process, a direct drop-in replacement for the original spool spindle once assembled.

Highly recommended to print in a material with a softening temp well above your drying temps. I used PET-GF because I had some on the shelf, but PETG may work if you only ever dry PLA. Under the weight of a 3kg role this WILL deform otherwise.

v2 Brim and Support required for your filament to keep a strong 1st layer bond.

Version History

V1: Release

V1.1: Adjusted length to better fit dryer

V2: Inverted the design for the bearing to mount at the side wall, the spindle gains the pin. Is it better? Time will tell, but I was trying some new CAD software.

I also shortened the bearing pins to allow you to glue the bearing mounts in the box and flex the side wall to insert and remove the spindle with spools on it, no need to fuss with aligning the slots.
