🧰 Description

This is a parametric flat-pack storage box generator designed for 3D printers with limited build volume (like 250×250 beds).
Instead of printing one large object, this system creates flat printable panels that assemble into a rigid storage box with internal shelves.

Built for real-world use—shop, truck, or workspace organization—this lets you scale storage beyond your printer size while keeping everything modular and easy to reproduce.

⚙ Features

  • 📐 Fully parametric (OpenSCAD)

  • 🧩 Flat-pack panel design (print → glue → assemble)

  • 🔒 Finger-jointed outer structure

  • 🪵 Internal shelves with tab-and-slot mounting

  • 📦 Open-front cabinet style

  • 🖨 Optimized for ~250mm printers

  • 🔧 Easy to modify for drawers, rails, or custom layouts

🧪 Why this exists

Most storage designs assume you can print large parts.
This flips that idea:

Print small → assemble big

It’s especially useful for:

  • Truck storage (adhesives, tools, consumables)

  • Workshop organization

  • Modular shelving systems

  • Expanding storage without buying bigger printers

🛠 Assembly

  1. Print panels (PLA or ABS both work)

  2. Lightly clean up edges if needed

  3. Dry-fit everything

  4. Glue joints (wood glue / CA glue both work)

  5. Insert shelves into side slots and glue in place

👉 The finger joints provide alignment, glue provides strength.

📏 Customization

Open the .scad file and adjust:

  • box_w, box_d, box_h → overall size

  • shelf_count → number of shelves

  • shelf_mode → auto or manual placement

  • fit_clearance → adjust for your printer tolerance

You can easily adapt this into:

  • Drawer systems

  • Deeper cabinets

  • Tool-specific storage layouts

⚠ Notes

  • This is a fixed shelf design (not adjustable after assembly)

  • Designed for glue-up construction, not press-fit

  • Always test one panel if dialing in tolerances

🚀 Future ideas

  • Drawer module generator

  • Rail-based removable shelves

  • Auto plate layout for multi-part printing
