For this project, I wanted to design and make something that will not only challenge my skills and to make my 3D printing process easier and get better results. So I designed this small cylindrical desiccant box with a funnel. Through the process of designing it, I learned how to create helixes on cylindrical faces, how to create threads, how to use circular patterns, resolve complex feature errors, and how to generate repeating patterns and how to do more advanced ones by hand. This desiccant box is made with many rectangular cut outs on the side for ventilation of the silica gel beads, the top and bottom is made with circular cut-outs for aesthetics and functional purposes. The sizes of the holes and the cut-outs are carefully designed to hole standard sized silica gel beads, without them escaping. Originally I made a cubic one but soon realized there's not easy way to secure the beads inside, so I switched to a cylindrical design which has a threaded cap with grip on it for ease of use. This desiccant box can be used anywhere, inside the spools, in dry boxes, in AMS's, or even in filament bags!
