An OpenSCAD project I wrote to generate various screw top storage containers. If this was useful to you, I'd love to see your generated models so feel free to leave a make and or upload a remix.

Check the remixes tab for available STLs and print files.

OpenSCAD

This is an OpenSCAD file, OpenSCAD and BOSL2 library is required (install info) to make use of it. Read more about OpenSCAD libraries.

Usage

  1. Open the .scad file in OpenSCAD.

  2. Customize as needed with the Customizer window. This should open by default to the right. If not, click the Window menu and make sure Customizer is checked.

Part selection

By default, the assembly will be shown, to export STL files you'll want to:

  • select pot part, render and export to STL,

  • select lidpart, render and export to STL.

Size

Allows customizing diameter, height of the pot, threading and thread slop.

Inside pot

Add a pot in the pot, sort of. Allows adding an additional cylindrical chamber in the pot and control the configuration. Can be used to create a center tray, a rod to keep bearings in place, add a second wall or just some additional support for the lid during transport.

You can probably configure this in a way that breaks the model or results into something nonsensical or broken. So properly review the result before printing.

Knurling

Add some basic knurling to the outside to provide some extra grip. Make sure to not make the knurling to deep as pushing this too far could result in thin walls or even missing walls.

Changelog
