3D printing makes it quick and easy to produce complex plastic parts with minimal effort. When those parts must bear mechanical loads, however, assessing their actual material behavior becomes essential. Although professional testing equipment is available, having the same capabilities in a home lab—right next to the printer—is far more practical. That motivated the development of a simple, robust, and cost‑effective tester: under €500, portable, and expandable. The result is the MT‑01 (Material Tester, Version 1), which performs tensile, compression, and flexural tests up to 1.5 kN.
