Description
A set of adapters that fit the standard Warhammer miniature bases for use with my HexiVault protective cases.
I don't play Warhammer myself, but since there is a Games Workshop store in the same center as the grocery store I usually go to, I dropped in and bought a few sets of standard Warhammer miniature bases for testing. Even for people playing other games, such as D&D, their miniature bases and compatible ones are very widely used, so I wanted to be sure to support them.
Printing
Select the proper adapter for your needs. For 25mm bases there is a version that fits my "medium" vault bases, but then the rest are made to fit the "large" vault bases.
Be sure to print two pieces for each mini you want to hold. They are symmetrical and will fit together rotated to make a full circle.
Sources
If you download the FreeCAD source file and examine things, the "HexiBase" object has "Params" for "Insert" and "Size". The size parameter is most often needed as medium. The insert choices have the target Warhammer base sizes listed. The official base sizes from Games Workshop have been tested and marked with "GW" on them for compatibility. A couple of other sizes for random models from different sources have been included, and more can be added to the configuration table in the spreadsheet as needed.
Layer Height
These have been designed for printing at 0.28mm layer heights, but others should work. Since they are mainly functional, I usually print them with extra draft settings.
Supports
They do need supports for the outer edges, and which to use might vary by printer. Running on my Neptune 4 Plus they work best with standard supports, but on my Centauri Carbon tree supports give me the best results.
Post-Print
Check the outer bottoms when they finish printing. Often the supports come off cleanly without interfering with the actual outer bottom edge of the piece. Letting them cool completely can help with clean separation. If the outer bottom edge does not break free cleanly, then just smooth thing with a quick pass or two with a deburring tool. The design is forgiving, so it should be fine to trim a little extra from that outer bottom edge.
Usage
Place one of the pieces in each side of a vault split base, slide the mini into place, then close.

Alternatively you can slide both adapter pieces around the base of the mini and then insert the whole thing directly into one side of the split base, closing it to lock things in place.

Given the nature of the Warhammer base design, the bevel helps lock things in very securely.
