I made this to replicate dorsiflexion joints that are commonly only available for purchase by medical professionals. I am not a medical professional, but I wanted to make flexion-assist braces for my dog. Nothing that was exactly like what I needed was available. The original design is (expired) patent USD385358S, though that one is for a bidirectional joint, not one that's going to assist flexing/extending in one specific direction.

The actua product will, of course, be more sturdy than the 3D printed version, since they are built with a metal cable inside that keeps them working for longer.

The files include both the printalbe .3MF files, and the original FreeCAD files I used in the design. In addition to the joint itself, I included some dummies/molds that helped me in shaping sheet thermoplastic (e.g. Kydex or generic alternatives) into sockets/nests for the joint.
