-- UPDATE --

There is a tweaked sensor mount with slightly more clearance for the leftover support material you may have in your sensor pocket. Use this version!

The hole will need to be drilled through with a 3.5mm drill bit, or just poked through with a sharp tool to fit your screw.

After seeing that my ceiling mounted presence sensors wouldn't work for so many people, I set about finding a way to hide presence sensors another way - which ultimately led to this!

It's a 3D printed 200mm pot with a spot for an Apollo MTR-1, and a ring of addressable LED's inside.

Printing Instructions (Planter)

  • Material: PLA is fine. PETG too!

  • Layer height: 0.3mm recommended

  • Infill: 4% adaptive cubic

  • Supports: required for the inside of the sensor housing on the pot, and the overhang on the sensor housing.

  • Perimeters/Walls: 2 walls should work fine, 1 also works well!

Orientation should be obvious!

Printing Instructions (Diffuser)

  • Material: Clear TPU (95A recommended)

  • Layer height: 0.3mm recommended

  • Infill: 100%

  • Supports: None

  • Perimeters/Walls: Standard flex settings

Orient with the larger diameter down on the bed

Sealing Print

If you intend to use your planter for real plants, you'll need to seal the print to prevent leaks. I used Photopolymer resin to coat the inside of the pot, then cured it with a UV lamp.

Polyurethane spray will also work great.
