Interior sundial inspired clock powered by a Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W and a WS2812B LED strip. The device simulates sunlight movement using LEDs to display the current time in a modern interpretation of traditional sundials.

The enclosure is designed for easy 3D printing and straightforward assembly, while still providing enough space for the electronics inside. The project needs following electronics:

  • Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W

  • WS2812B LED strip

  • USB-C power input

  • Waveshare 2.13inch Touch e-Paper HAT display

  • Pimoroni RGB potentiometr

  • PIR Sensor HC-SR501

  • Button

  • 6x threaded insert M3

  • 4x M3x10 mm screw

  • 2x M3x20 mm screw

  • 10x M2x10 mm screw

  • Jumper wires

The clock is controlled by custom software and can also be configured through a web interface. Which can be found here: https://github.com/Parrot2CZE/BP

This project was created as part of a bachelor’s thesis focused on combining modern electronics, programming, and the historical concept of sundials into a functional interior device.
