15 gears are connected in series. Each gear has a gear ratio of 1 to 8, so every next gear turns eight times slower than the previous one. If the first gear does one hundred rotations per minute, it would take over eighty-thousand years for the last gear to make one single rotation!
There are a few other infinity machine designs online, but I wanted one where every single gear is openly visible. The last gear has been "cut off", to further emphasize that it's probably never going to move in a significant manner. One could also put markings on the gears to better track their movement over time.
The design was made for a small electric motor that I had lying around. Its diameter is around 34mm and its height is around 33mm. The design is parametric, so you can open Base.scad with OpenSCAD and adjust the motor_diameter and motor_height variables. Everything should adapt accordingly, although I have not tested it extensively. You can also change the number of gears with the steps variable.
This project uses the OpenSCAD gears library made by janssen86 on thingiverse. It is already included in this project as "Getriebe.scad"
