There always seems to be a lot of clutter on my desk, and I when I go to find my pen it can be under stuff or mixed in and hard to find. I realized that what I really needed was something to hold it up off the desk but in easy reach so that it was always available. Further, by having a holder just for it, I am not tempted to put other things in it! So always ready, right next to my desk.
The pen is a 4-color BIC Pen that is available on Amazon and in a lot of office supply stores. My daughter called it my “nerd” pen because it is the only pen I use to write in my journal/notebooks. I like the way it feels in my hand and having different colors allows me to do better illustrations in my notebook.
It easily prints “straight up” as it were and requires no supports. I initially designed a taper in but realized that it was not really needed. The pen body is a nominal 11.3 mm in diameter so the pen holder is about 12mm in diameter.
I have attached it to my desk with some double sided tape, 3M “command strips” would work as well. The pen isn't heavy so they don't have to support much weight.
