The cover was created with two ideas in mind: To hide the cable connecting the display to the PCB and to have a square housing that is more suited to the square machine than the original round display.
However, the display needs to be first mounted in the original “case_front” and “case_back_rancilio_silvia” and only then is that assembly inserted into the square housing, sliding it up from the bottom into the inner ring. The two mounting slits - in the display case and the housing - then need to be aligned so both can be fitted over the rim of the Silvia, just like the original display case would be on its own. It only fits on the right hand side, just to the right of the main switch.
You find two versions: One has a carbon-fibre-like surface (thanks to bumpmesh.com), the other has a plain surface.
The housing was printed in PETG. While it does sit to the right and somewhat away from the boiler, it still might get warm up there. PLA should be ok too, but PETG seems the better choice.
They were printed with supports, but according to the slicer they should work without.
