I wanted a very slim fidget ring, similar in thickness that the metal one I am wearing. As I was working on this, I also find that the models I found on the internet were using kind of the same mechanism to make the moving part being captive on the static one. I made an entirely new design using some interlocking teeths that provide minimum play.
I also went quite far on the tunning of the tolerances, so this model will print fine on the newest machines (or maybe some old ones that are very well tuned!), if you calibrate very well your filament. I didn't really bother, so I tried different filaments and had to play a bit with the ring to break it free. The tolerance gap is actually between 0.2mm at the bigest down to around 0.16mm. You should print it with very fine layers, I used 0.12mm which worked great.
If you struggle to print it, I suggest trying to add a bit of X-Y scale (not Z or the mecanism will bind even more!), after separating the 2 parts from the stl. I also printed most of them with a brim on the inside so that it doesn't leave any visible mark. Use random seem too as it will help releasing the 2 parts.
I played a bit with Bumpmesh (thx Cnckitchen!) to make it nice, you can see the version with the japanese pattern from the pictures I used here attached here as well.
This is very fast to print, around 10 min each all included on my U1.
The stls name finish with the internal diameter in mm, you can find tables to convert it to ring size depending on the standard used by your country.
I don't mind you selling this product as long as you link to my printables profile on the product page.
