Overview

A highly versatile, fully parametric electronics enclosure built in OpenSCAD. Whether you are housing a simple microcontroller, creating a custom sensor node, or organizing hardware, this script allows you to generate the exact box you need in seconds.

Unlike standard boxes, this design features a 45-degree dovetail sliding lid. This eliminates steep horizontal overhangs, allowing it to print flawlessly without any support material.

Key Features

  • Inside vs. Outside Dimensions: Toggle between defining the exact internal volume you need for your electronics, or the strict external footprint to fit a specific space. The script automatically calculates the rest.

  • Print-Friendly Dovetail Lid: The sliding mechanism uses a 45° angle, ensuring clean overhangs and a satisfying, secure slide right off the build plate.

  • Independent Cable Routing: Need a port for a USB cable? You can define the exact diameter for circular cable cutouts on the left, right, front, or back walls independently. Set any to 0 for a solid wall.

  • Adjustable Tolerances: Every printer is different. A dedicated tolerance slider allows you to dial in the perfect clearance gap for the lid (recommended 0.2mm - 0.4mm depending on your setup).

Printing Recommendations This model is optimized to be printed without supports.

  • Material: PLA, PETG, or ABS/ASA

  • Layer Height: 0.2mm works great.

  • Supports: None required! The 45° dovetail is designed to print clean in mid-air.

  • Clearance/Tolerance: The default 0.3mm tolerance yields a smooth, secure sliding fit on well-calibrated machines like the Prusa Core One. If your lid is too tight, simply increase the tolerance parameter in OpenSCAD by 0.1mm and re-export.
