I remixed asb2106's design from Thingiverse because the letters aren't fully attached to the baseplate when sliced. I re-created it from scratch by using the original design as a sort of template.

The only extra items you'll need for this print are 12mm x 2mm magnets. The ones I procured for my tests were from this variety pack.

There are two versions of the print available:

  • 12mm - magnets should be a perfectly snug fit.
  • 12.5mm - magnets fit loosely, so you will need some super glue to keep them in place.

Special considerations for inserting the magnets are below.

Notes:

This print looks best when printed with two colors but will look fine as one color. Use your slicer's "color change" capability to print two colors. For PrusaSlicer, for example, follow these instructions.

To insert the magnets, you'll need to use your slicer's ability to pause on the layer before the magnet holes are covered up. I can't speak for other slicers, but PrusaSlicer definitely has this ability.

Be aware that if your hotend's nozzle is made of ferrous metal such as stainless steel, you'll need to make sure that the magnets are either firmly wedged in their holes (on the 12mm version) or make sure to use a drop or two of super glue (on the 12.5mm version) to keep them in. Otherwise, the magnets could stick to the nozzle and possibly damage your hotend.
