Hedgehog Highway for Wire Mesh Fences

Hedgehogs often travel through several gardens during their nightly journeys. Unfortunately, wire mesh fences can become obstacles and may leave sharp edges after being cut.

This model provides a safe and clean way to create a hedgehog passage through a mesh fence.

After cutting an opening of 13cm x 13 cm in the fence (10 cm × 6 cm), the two frame halves are placed on each side of the mesh and screwed together. The frame clamps the fence between both parts, covering any sharp edges and helping to protect animals as they pass through.

For an attractive finish, a decorative hedgehog silhouette has been integrated into the design.

Printing

For long-term outdoor use, PETG is recommended due to its improved resistance to UV exposure, moisture, and temperature changes.

Why install a hedgehog highway?

Hedgehogs need to move freely between gardens to find food, water, and mates. By creating small wildlife-friendly openings in fences, anyone can help support local biodiversity and make gardens more connected for wildlife.
