9-gram print that saves the hassle of tying your shoes!

The Handy Bowtie uses a twist lock mechanism to connect the two laces and ensure that it won't get disconnected while using it

Ways to use

Quick connect: Uses your existing shoelaces (or 3mm paracord if you don't want to cut up your laces) and it provides solid tension just like a shoeknot

Slip-in: Uses 3mm elastic cord that allows for some stretch in the shoe, which you can slide your foot into with ease

Print instructions

3 walls, 15% infill

Print in PETG for element protection

Scale up the model if you wish to accommodate thicker laces

Assembly

  1. Lace up the shoes with your preferred type of lace

  2. Slide the parts into each end of the loose thread

  3. Tie an overhand knot at each of the loose threads where you want the bowtie pieces to be (getting the right fit can take a few tries, so make sure that it is before cutting)

  4. Cut the extras and only leave a bit to spare (don't cut flush with the knots so that the extras act like a spring inside the bowtie, therefore locking it up)

  5.  Pull the overhand knots so that they fit snugly inside the bowtie pieces

  6. Push the bowtie pieces in, twist clockwise, release, and start using
