As I've been making a lot of molds for concrete objects lately, I thought I'd share a little with you
This is not meant as an awesome model, more as a light tutorial on how to make concrete stuff.
It's actually quite basic, you just need to :
understand undercuts in mold design (plenty of tutorials out there)
learn the basics of a 3D modeling on a parametric software - I use SolidWorks but there're a lot of options - (parametric is mandatory to easily modify your 3D model along the way, because mistakes will be made at about every new project)
watch a couple tutorials on how to make concrete for that specific purpose
So I guess this whole post is not a tutorial after all, but a list of tutorials you should explore to make the same stuff ^^
This particular model is an ashtray, use it to understand the hows and whys of the design... The only bit you couldn't guess is that I use small plastic tongs to hold the 2 parts of the mold together
I've also joined a couple of other exemples of what one can make with a bit of trying and error
If you have questions I'll try to answer them, but mostly I'm eager to see what some people will come up with !
