A simple three piece burr with four different assemblies. In the symmetric assembly, it looks like a common Diagonal Burr, but internally is quite different. Place it on your coffee table in its "broken state" (first photo) and see if anyone notices. Or, in the symmetric state, challenge a more experienced puzzler to take it apart.
The puzzle is easily printed in three colors with no supports. Each color has a main piece plus a tip to be printed. The tips and pieces contain connectors that snap together. They are labeled A, B, C (blank) so you can tell which tip goes where. Note: The label "C" was removed because it creates an overhang in piece 3.
On a multi-color printer, the three pieces can be printed on one build plate if printed "By Object" with sufficient clearance between the parts. The 3mf file shows such a print on a Bambu H2D. If you need to print each color separately, print:
Color #1: BrokenBurrBase1.stl BrokenBurrTipB.stl
Color #2: BrokenBurrBase2.stl BrokenBurrTipC.stl
Color #3: BrokenBurrBase3.stl BrokenBurrTipA.stl
You may not need to glue the joints together. In general, though, I like to add a few drops of superglue to secure the joints. The puzzle tends to become tighter after gluing.
Thanks to Aaron Siegel for PuzzleCAD with the clever snap joints. This made the puzzle easy to make. I've included the PuzzleCAD file in case you would like to change anything.
