I have lost about 5 mailboxes in 10 years from delivery drivers hitting my mailbox and it is getting worse with more deliveries being made. I designed this break away post saver to try to help. It can take some light bumps by vehicles and will self center due to the TPU straps and concave shape, If it gets hit hard enough, the screws will just pull through the straps without breaking the post and just fall over. I used PETG CF but probably should be made from ASA but I wanted a proof of concept first. Print with the faces on the build plate with grid supports set at .25 z contact works best. Make sure to check the size before printing. My 4x4 was a little bigger than standard. I also included a base for the mailbox to accept a 4x4 and can be screwed to the mailbox and post. Try bumpmesh.com to give it some texture to really make it pop.

Update: mailbox was hit by a garbage truck and survived. The driver told my wife he hit it and if we needed to file a complaint, it was all on his video. He was a new driver and thought it was a great concept and couldn't believe there was no damage. Of course I will not be filing a complaint, no harm no foul. I can't see someone losing their job over it.
