Print this for a replacement or customized knob for my dials and joysticks.
FDM allows for multi-material use, such as for the touch area.
needs 3× M3 heat inserts
to merge the touch ring with the body → select the same material
remember to change the type of the modifier to ‘modifier’ or ‘support blocker’ :-)
SLA has M3 threads printed-in-place, with an allowance of about 50µm
Print Recommendations
adaptive layer height
3 walls or more if with a 0.4mm nozzle—conceptually the knob is a thicker vase
try different seam gap compensations (under ‘quality’)
enable ‘scarf seams’ for your filament
body: ASA
touch ring: PLA/wood, or something rubbery like TPU-for-AMS
The FDM version can be printed without any supports if you flip it on its head.
